The Consortium for Study Abroad in Taiwan (CSAT) is an innovation launched by Fulbright Taiwan that aims to encourage American students to study abroad in Taiwan.

Program Length

16-18 Weeks

Tuition

Equivalent to 12-18 hours of coursework. Mandarin courses included.

On-campus dormitory in each host university.

Organized by each host university and/or CSAT.

  • The applicant shall be a student officially enrolled at any U.S. universities, colleges, or equivalent institutions

  • The visiting period shall be at least one semester (academic term), up to one academic year.

  • Online application form

  • Digital headshot photo for passport (.jpg)with white background

  • One-page study plan (.pdf)

  • Scanned official transcript (.pdf)

  • Color-scanned passport copy (.pdf)

  • Two recommendation letters (.pdf) *from faculties, or instructors in your home institution

  • Complete CSAT online application form.

  • Confirm with your study abroad advisor and academic advisor in your home institution regarding your in-taking course list for credits pre-approval.

  • Submit all required digital documents to CSAT.

Application is on a rolling basis.

  • Application fee: USD $50, non-refundable.

  • Students studying abroad shall comply with U.S. laws, laws of Taiwan, as well as local host institutions’ regulations, or they shall be punishable in accordance with the relevant regulations.

  • Fall term: June of the year

  • Spring term: December of previous years

For U.S. students who are attending the CSAT Semester and Internship Program, you will need to apply a Visitor Visa to Taiwan. There are two steps for applying a Visitor Visa:

(1) Submit the online visa application via the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs.
(2) Take application supporting documents to your nearest Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) to implement the visa application.

*Once you are accepted by CSAT local host institutions, CSAT will provide you the Visitor Visa application supporting documents.

Application Timeline

Online application

Online application opens all year around. Students shall pay $50 application fee after submitting the online form.

CSAT review

CSAT will have a preliminary review and match host institution for students.

Host institutions review

Host universities review the candidate’s study plan and application materials.

Result release

Fall: June
Spring: December

Student shall pay $7900 program fee and confirm to accept the offer.

*For U.S. students and faculties who are attending the CSAT Short-term Program, you are eligible for the visa exemption program, with a duration of stay of up to 90 days. Please visit Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs for your reference.

Pay deposit

A non-refundable $300 deposit for each participant will be charged three months ahead of program start date.

Pay balance due

Total program cost should be transferred 1.5 months before the program start date.
